My name is Daisha Lewis, and for over two decades, I have lived with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC). I have survived brain metastasis, 30+ surgeries, and a spinal shunt that briefly took away my ability to walk. I have always worked. I have always provided. But right now, I am at my breaking point.
After escaping a domestic violence situation with my children, we were left with nothing. Because I had to choose between life-saving surgeries and mandatory court dates for a protective order, I lost my job. That loss cost us our home.
The Reality Right Now:
• We are living in a motel. My children and I have been turned away from every shelter (multiple times) because they are full or because I refuse to be separated from my son. (Most of them have gender based policies - meaning they’re willing to separate my son from his family and put him in dangerous situations alone. I refuse to allow than to happen.)
• I am medically fragile. My back injury makes it impossible to stand or sit for long hours, yet I have already secured a new remote commission-based job to get us back on our feet.
• We are one night away from the street. My SSDI check and small commissions aren't enough to cover daily motel rates plus a deposit on a safe, permanent apartment.
Where Your Donation Goes: Every dollar is a literal lifeline. Your support will go directly toward:
1. Our Motel Stay: Keeping us off the streets while I wait for my first full paycheck.
2. A Security Deposit: Getting us into an income-based apartment where my kids can finally unpack their bags.
3. Basic Necessities: Clothing and things we lost by leaving as quickly and as safely as we could.
The Lord has blessed us with peace and each other’s love, but I cannot watch my children sleep in the cold. I have fought for my life for 24 years—now I am fighting for theirs.
Please, if you cannot donate, share our story. A share could be the miracle we need.
With gratitude and hope, Daisha & Family
