Help Beth and Cyndi's Mom Recover from Scam
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Cyndi. My sister Beth and I would like to share our mother's experience with scammers.
This past Tuesday, our 85-year-old mother was scammed for $20,000. She was told she would be helping the FBI catch child pornographers. Our mother is one of the sweetest, most caring people I know. When she heard that she would be helping children that were being taken advantage of, she stepped right up to help them. That is absolutely no surprise; our mom will do anything she can to help people in need.
The surprise came when we learned her money was going into the hands of scammers. They are out there every day preying on the old and the young, but on Tuesday, May 12, 2025, they preyed on my mom, taking $20,000 of her hard-earned money. Once they had that, they pushed a little harder and attempted to get another $15,000. Our mother, being the kind lady she is, went back to the bank to try and get another $15,000.
Immediately, the branch manager came out to speak with her. Our mother explained that she is helping the FBI to catch child pornographers and the selling of child pornography. The manager quietly asked if she is still on the phone with them. Mom shook her head yes and was told to hang up immediately, that she was being scammed.
The police came and she filed a report; she explained to them everything the scammers had done. The officers she spoke to explained to her that this week (mind you, it was only Tuesday) three people in the Montgomery County/Conroe, Texas area had already been scammed with the same routine.
The bank manager apologized and explained that because she gave them the money, they would not be able to give her her money back. Beth and I are attempting to help her recoup some of the hard-earned money she lost as well as to prevent others from falling prey to scammers.
Thank you for taking time out to read about our mom's horrible scammer experience.
