Help Curbside Chronicle buy a floral delivery van!

Tax deductible

Curbside Flowers needs your help hitting the gas pedal. Our flower shop — employing Oklahomans transitioning out of homelessness — is in need of a delivery van.

After months of construction and planning, we’re almost ready to open the doors to our brick-and-mortar flower shop. One of the only things missing is a vehicle. Having our own delivery van will allow us to offer daily floral deliveries across the OKC-Metro and provide year-round employment and training for people transitioning out of homelessness.

Several fundraisers that were meant to benefit Curbside Flowers were cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19. We’re asking for your help making up for this loss in revenue. Will you help us secure a delivery vehicle and employ people working to end their homelessness?

Opening fall 2020, Curbside Flowers will offer floral arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, corporate events, and more at 522 N Classen Ave. Every bouquet you purchase will be hand-crafted by a vendor in our program. But we can’t do it without your support.

For many who have struggled with homelessness for an extended period of time, traditional employment can be out of reach. Curbside was created to provide employment opportunities and job skills training. But more than that, Curbside was created to build community and break down socially-isolating walls that often exist between people who have homes and those who don’t.

It started with the Curbside Chronicle magazine providing low-barrier employment opportunities for people experiencing homelessness. Magazine vendors are paired with case managers to work on goals, starting with housing. In recent years, the Curbside program expanded its product line to include wrapping paper and flower bouquets sold by vendors.

The community showed our small floral campaigns so much love, that we decided to embark on a full-service flower shop. With a seed grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, Curbside Flowers was born. The flower shop will enable us to employ people ready to transition into a more traditional work environment. Each vendor will earn a college certificate in Retail Floral Design through a partnership with OSU-OKC and will be trained in our retail shop, helping participants build job skills, gain work experience, and grow in self-confidence.

*Any money raised beyond our initial goal will help with the completion of the flower shop, purchasing equipment and supplies, and providing wages to vendors.
