Cura Health is a service-oriented student organization at UC Berkeley.
Cura, meaning healing or caring in Latin, represents our mission to empower underserved communities in the surrounding Bay Area. We aim to alleviate health, educational, and social disparities through hands-on, tangible outreach initiatives. We engage in biweekly partnerships with local homeless, incarcerated, and elderly populations, as our vision is to maintain a sustainable impact with these communities. This semester, we have volunteered with the Glide Foundation, Family House, and the St. Anthony Foundation.
STARS is Cura’s free after-school tutoring program for the students of John Henry High School in Richmond. The student population is low-income and academically challenged in both the current curriculum and foundational skills. Additionally, many students lack the ambition to pursue an undergraduate degree, as they lack everyday role models within higher education. We volunteer Monday-Thursday to help them catch up to their respective grade level and inspire them with a passion for education. On May 1st, we are hosting a Day in the Life of Berkeley event, where we bring these students to Cal for a field trip and show them what college is like!
If you are willing and able to help us make a meaningful impact on our surrounding communities, please consider donating to the Cura cause! We are incredibly appreciative of any help you are able to provide. Thank you for your time!
