Help CrimDell Grow

What started in March as a vague idea to offer help to small businesses through the challenges of  COVID has grown to a 30+ person organization. So far, the CrimDell Small Business Network has provided over 500 hours of counseling and an additional 500 hours of volunteer hours to more than 30 local businesses free of charge.

CrimDell is positioned to utilize its partnership between the William & Mary Mason School of Business and the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads. From this, students conduct short term counseling projects to promote business resilience during and hopefully post-COVID.  The student teams define a project focus, conduct independent research, receive approval from SBDC counselors, and present the final recommendations to the client.

Completed projects thus far have included developing social media strategies, identifying alternative revenue streams, and projecting cash flows.  Our clients have found tremendous value in our service which helps them pivot in this difficult time.

These counseling services help benefit multiple partners:

-Businesses gaining new perspectives
-The SBDC increases its Williamsburg presence
-William & Mary Students gain crucial, relevant, and hands-on work experience
-And most importantly, the Greater Williamsburg Area (Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown) benefits by supporting local businesses AND by engaging students in the local economy.

Outside of counseling, we have built a community of over 80 business owners and many important community partners that include other non-profits and Economic Development Centers. We have hosted 10 webinars since April, connecting more than 50 business owners directly in conversation with William & Mary faculty, alumni, executive partners and students.

We believe that CrimDell is serving as a much-needed bridge between the vast resources of the Raymond A. Mason School of business and the greater Williamsburg Small Business Community.

We’d love your help in continuing this endeavor. The greatest support we ask of you is  getting the word out today to businesses and encouraging them to participate in the free counseling projects. CrimDell will become a lasting fixture in Williamsburg, VA. Any interested business owners can contact us today by email or phone. We grow when our community grows.

Additionally, although we have partnered with the Hampton Road SBDC to counsel small businesses, we still require funding to support other CrimDell related operations which includes advertising to reach out to businesses in need, and networking event opportunities we host such as CrimDell Trivia Mania and our Crisis Conversation series.
