In January 2025, while some of our dedicated Crew 8 volunteers were helping keep the public safe during the devastating Palisades fire, our equipment trailer - the heart of our operation - was completely destroyed.
Crew 8 is a dedicated, all volunteer organization based in Los Angeles, CA. We provide critical first aid services at community events (trail races, music/community festivals and more) throughout the region. For years, our team has been a reliable presence at gatherings from small to over 3,000 attendees, ensuring public safety with our trained and compassionate volunteers.
Additionally, we have partnered with local State Parks since 2007 to provide visitor education, trail patrols, search and rescue, event support and more.
During the recent Palisades Fire, our trailer was completely destroyed, leaving nothing but the frame. Not only did we lose our trailer but all of our materials and equipment as well.
Items lost include but are not limited to:
• 2 AED devices that save lives during cardiac emergencies
• Medical-grade oxygen supply and delivery systems
• First aid tents that provide treatment spaces at large events
• Medic bags and supplies
• Restock Supplies
• Uniforms
• Medical cots for patient care
• Support equipment including coolers, lighting, generator, etc.
The total replacement cost is approximately $30,000 - a devastating amount for our small volunteer organization that is funded solely by donations provided by events we participate in. While we've applied for grant assistance from LA County, we've received no response to date, and we unfortunately don't qualify for FEMA disaster assistance.
Your donation will directly help us replace the essential equipment lost in the fire that we need to continue our mission of providing first aid support to our community. Every dollar brings us closer to being fully operational again.
