Honoring Lindsey Kay Dobbs: Memorial Mural

Lindsey Kay Dobbs was a soul whose light radiated warmth, kindness, and a unique vibrancy that touched everyone she encountered. With her infectious spirit and generous heart, she had an uncanny ability to make those around her feel truly seen and valued. Lindsey’s love for animals was one of the many ways she shared her heart, and her pets, particularly her beloved dog Mijkey, were a reflection of her playful, caring nature. Anyone who met Mijkey, with his pink-tipped fur, couldn’t help but smile at the love and joy Lindsey poured into caring for him and all the other animals who were lucky enough to call her their owner.
But it wasn’t just animals that found a place in Lindsey’s heart—her community was equally blessed by her boundless generosity. Lindsey was known for her unwavering willingness to help others, whether it was a close friend, a neighbor, or even a stranger in need. I remember hearing a story about a snowy morning when Lindsey saw a neighbor struggling to dig his car out of the snow before work. Without a word, she simply appeared with her own shovel, offering a helping hand before her neighbor even realized she was there. It was in these quiet moments of selflessness that Lindsey’s true character shone brightest—she was the kind of person who would stop whatever she was doing to help someone in need, no questions asked.
Lindsey’s heart for her community was matched only by her creative vision for it. She dreamed of ways to make her neighborhood a place of connection, beauty, and shared purpose. One of her most cherished ideas was "Lindsey’s Little Library," a project she had started with the intention of bringing neighbors together through the simple joy of shared books. Even after her passing, her dream lives on, as her dear friends and neighbors rallied together to complete the library and install it just a stone’s throw from her home. It is a symbol of her legacy—a lasting testament to her desire to nurture and build bonds within her community.
Another dream Lindsey had was to create a mural, a work of art that would bring even more beauty to the area she loved so deeply. This mural, which will be painted next to her beloved Little Library, will serve as a vibrant reminder of Lindsey’s presence and the impact she had on those around her. Amy Miller, a talented local artist and friend of Lindsey’s, has graciously offered to bring this vision to life. Amy’s murals already grace other corners of St. Louis, and now, she will paint one that honors Lindsey’s spirit and her enduring love for the community.
The funds raised for this mural will go directly toward bringing this heartfelt tribute to life. It will be more than just a painting on a wall—it will be a celebration of a life well-lived, of a woman whose kindness knew no bounds, whose creative spirit continues to inspire, and whose love for her community will forever be felt in every brushstroke of this mural.
