Hi, my name is Daniella. I’ve long been an advocate for women, mothers, and children, using my social media platforms to spread awareness about DV based on my own experiences and gained knowledge.

My story began when I met my now ex-husband. It escalated during my pregnancy and reached a critical point which lead me to flee our home in St. Louis at 36 weeks pregnant to return to Sweden and give birth to my baby boy. At the time, I thought leaving would bring an end to the cycle, but I quickly learned it was only the beginning.

Since then, I’ve been fighting relentlessly to protect my son’s safety and well-being. This has meant navigating the challenges of social services and family court for years, all while enduring post-separation abuse from my ex-husband. As a full-time single mom with sole custody, I’ve had to face these battles alone, often living with the fear of financial ruin due to ongoing litigation abuse, all without any support.

So far, I’ve spent $32,000 in legal fees to protect my son. That’s $32,000 that could have been used to improve our lives or help others. I’ve been the sole provider for my son, working tirelessly to lift us out of poverty and provide a stable home—despite my ex keeping everything in the divorce, withholding and refusing to pay child support.

Now, I’m turning to my community for help. I’m raising $3,000 to cover lawyer fees for a custody and visitation dispute with my high-conflict ex. This will hopefully be one of the final expenses in this long and exhausting case and chapter.

As a single mom, it’s not easy to ask for help. But one thing I always tell other mothers is to never be afraid to reach out for support when they need it. So now, for the sake of protecting my son, I’m swallowing my pride, taking my own advice, and asking for your help.
