My name is Cooper Akers. I’m a Boy Scout in Troop 303 out of the American Legion Post #470 in Fishers, Indiana.

For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I’m replacing the Flag Retirement burn pit at the legion. Every year, my troop burns and retires thousands of flags. This is done through a ceremony and is performed with the solemn respect and significance it deserves.

Unfortunately, the existing pit, which was built in 2004, has deteriorated significantly and needs replacement.

The plan is to build a steel burn pit surrounded by concrete benches and stamped concrete with bollards that represent all of our branches of the United States Military.
