Help Connie Rebuild After House Fire

Donation protected
Update 2/26/2026: Thank you to everyone who already helped. I have enough for the first step--meeting the March 1 rent payment. The next step is to pay the down payment to the plumbing company to schedule water and sewer hookup. Help me find more ways to share and bulletin boards both physical and electronic to find others who can help. Every dollar is going toward rebuilding enough for the house to pass code so I can move back in. I appreciate all of the efforts.

**Quick Summary:**
  • Senior over 70, no local family support
  • House destroyed by electrical fire during COVID recovery
  • Insurance delays and rising costs have left me unable to return home for over 3 years
  • At risk of having to live out of my car after March 1
  • Funds needed for construction costs and temporary housing to return home

My name is Connie, and I am a senior over 70 with no local family to turn to. While I was still recovering from COVID complications, my life was turned upside down by an electrical fire that gutted my home to the studs. The fire happened during a time when building materials were scarce and expensive, and labor shortages made everything take longer. I had replacement insurance, but the company has been slow to reimburse repairs, and the rising costs have made it impossible to keep up. For over three years, I have been fighting to rebuild my home, but my savings have run out. I am now unable to afford both rent and my mortgage, and the city will not let me move back in until all utilities are up to code—including connecting to city water instead of the well I used to use. If I can't secure help, I am at risk of having to live out of my car after March 1. I am truly afraid of becoming completely homeless. The funds I raise here will go directly toward construction costs to bring my home up to code and to cover temporary housing so I can have a safe place to stay until I can move back in. Once the house meets city requirements, I will be able to return home and complete the remaining repairs. I am deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
