Help Complete the Holy Underground

For almost 50 years now, five mornings a week, Manna Community Meal soup kitchen (in the Catholic Worker tradition) has offered coffee, tea, soup, and sandwiches to anyone who comes through its doors. It has been a consistent place of physical and spiritual nourishment for those in need.
Manna Meal serves out of the basement of St. Peter's, and over the years it has experienced much wear and tear, affecting the safety, comfort, and sustainability of the space. Over the last couple years, St. Peter's has engaged in a major fundraising campaign to renovate this "Holy Underground," making it more hospitable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable, so it can continue to serve as a soup kitchen for many decades to come.
Renovations began this summer, including a fully redone floor, replastered and repainted walls, new bathrooms, and new glassblock windows. St. Peter's has already raised over $240k to make these renovations possible, and now it needs just $30k more to cross the finish line.
So many lives have been sustained and transformed by this space; indeed mine is one of them. I feel so invested in its continuation as a place of radical hospitality and mutual aid.
With this GoFundMe campaign I hope to help St. Peter's raise the final funds to make these renovations possible. All donations to this GoFundMe will go directly towards the Holy Underground project and will truly have an impact on folks' lives for many years to come.
