Help me Support Nyame Bekyere

My name is Diallo Sumbry. I've made Ghana my home over the past 10 years in a small village called Nyame Bekyere, which means 'God will provide' where I accepted the position of Nkosuohene, Chief of Development.

My first project is the Nyame Bekyere Community Center and this is where I need your help.

I started constructing our community center a few years ago in 2022 with my own funds fully expecting to be able to complete the center on my own. We’ve had some great help along the way but not enough to finish the job so I’m turning to my community of family, friends and supporters for assistance and every amount helps us reach our goal.

Due to a number of reasons including unstable exchange rate, rising costs of materials, bad contractors, and the general economy, we've come to a bit of a standstill until we raise money to complete the center.

The center is 3 levels.

Check out where we are on the rooftop. We recently had to redo the roof which was unexpected. We had a bad contractor and everything was fine until it wasn't. Thank God for the rainy season because it showed us we needed a new roof.

This is the 1st Floor Event Space. On this floor we need to complete the electrical work, plumbing, tiling, ceiling, bathrooms and finishing.

This is the Ground Floor Library. This space was ready to go but due to the bad roof and leakage, we have to do some repair work from the damages to the ceiling.

Let me tell you little bit about the community center and the people it serves.

The Community Center stands at about 990 square meters on the N4 Highway roadside just 15 minutes from Koforidua, the Administrative Capitol of the Eastern Region, in Akuapem North section of the Eastern Region. It is built in front of the Nyame Bekyere School which serves Kindergarten through Junior High School.

This library will serve the school during the day and the broader community in the evening.

The event/meeting space and rooftop will allow us to hold more trainings and community meetings as well as serve as rental spaces for outside events.

The revenue from these spaces will support the entire institution and help provide the community with a durable, self-sustaining institution from which it can grow and begin to manage on it’s on.

Beyond providing a space for locals and the Nyame Bekyere Community, we intend for this community center to serve as a partner for study abroad programs focusing on providing black school age children in America an opportunity to visit, study in Africa and gain an unforgettable experience that resonate with them

for the rest of their lives.

Our hope is that the Nyame Bekyere Community Center can serve as a model for other communities in the Akuapem region and as model for how Diasporans reintegrating to Ghana and other parts of Africa can have an sustainable impact.

Here’s breakdown of the expenses by level. As you will see, the donation we are requesting held us get there but not all the way. The balance is our commitment to finish as we have started.
