We are a community kitchen in South Norwood, Croydon, run by and for the community. We're open 5 days a week and welcome everyone into the space, no questions asked. We serve breakfast and lunch every day on a free or pay-what-you-can basis to 50-70+ people, run classes, support groups, events and youth placements, and provide resources and support for the community to find solutions to challenges like housing, debt, isolation and systemic neglect.

We have seen a huge increase in demand for our hardship grant this year, with the housing crisis worsening, cost of living increasing and benefits sanctions worsening. We know that our community is struggling more than ever, and with winter coming we know that things will only get more challenging with heating bills increasing.

Whilst support and services exist for our friends and neighbours, often there are hoops to jump that make these opportunities impossible for many to access. Our emergency hardship grants provide urgent, small-scale financial support that can make a huge difference to someone’s quality of life. Grants include emergency accommodation for people experiencing homelessness, gas and electricity top up, basic mobile phones, sanitary and baby products, and debt support.

With just two staff members and an army of over 100 volunteers, we make good things happen every day on a shoe string. You can be part of making change happen in your own community by donating to us this winter- all of your donation will go straight to our emergency hardship grant programme.
