Community Action Relief Project is a mutual aid and harm reduction group located in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. CARP’s members are anarchists, communists, and socialists committed to sharing resources and redistributing wealth.
CARP is moving. Since the beginning of our program, we have been operating out of the Philly Socialists office space at Kensington and Lehigh, building our community through on-the-ground distribution, outreach, and political education. Though CARP began as a program of Philly Socialists, we formally split into separate entities in the Spring of 2021. Since that time, Philly Socialists allowed us to continue using their space; much of their work was done remotely during the pandemic, while our project needed a central physical location to continue meeting the survival needs of our community members. As CARP continues to grow and as Philly Socialists begins resuming their in-person work, it's time for us to vacate their office space.
CARP's strength has always been our consistency and deep relationships with community members. We need to continue our work without negatively impacting the people we serve or the quality of our work. We've spent months planning how to adapt our distribution model and have figured out a plan of action.
CARP needs financial support from our community of supporters and comrades to make that transition possible! All funds raised will go directly towards the cost of a storage unit to sustain our weekly distribution and community care resources to the hundreds of neighbors we work with.
These resources include:
- Hygiene packs
- Safer use kits
- Meals, coffee, and other drinks
- Clothing and shoes
- Political readings and discussion groups
- First aid and hospital/emergency room accompaniment
- Support navigating social services
Please share this like wildfire and donate to keep our work going strong.
