On April 18th our family experienced an unimaginable loss. My cousin, Colton Sylvia lost his mother, Merry Sylvia, suddenly and unexpectedly. She wasn’t just his mom—she was his best friend, his confidante, and his world. She was a confidante and a safe space for many other people as well, including myself. The two of them were inseparable, and her passing has left a void that words can’t truly capture.
