Help Colbie Clair

Hello Friends! For the past few years, I have asked for assistance purchasing monthly books for every child in my class through Scholastic Book Club. It has been very successful solely because of my extremely generous friends and family members. This year I had my heart tugged in a different direction. It still involves a student of mine; however, she is a previous student and family friend. Colbie Clair Robinson is a gift to everyone she encounters. She is a 13-year-old girl who has gone through more in her short life than anyone I know will in a lifetime. Colbie wants to sell her prized possessions, American Girl dolls, to get a Golden Doodle service dog. Colbie is willing to spend her hard-earned money to help her parents purchase her companion. I would like to share Colbie's story with you.

Colbie Clair was born at 27 weeks. She had anemia and developed a brain bleed at 20 days old. Her diagnosis is cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegic. This effects only her motor skills. Her cortical vision impairment considers her legally blind. Vision to her is like looking through swiss cheese. Colbie also has hypothyroidism, epilepsy, scoliosis, massive kidney stone issues, and hip subluxation. In the last 4 years, Colbie's most recent surgeries include bilateral femoral de-rotation osteotomies. A year later she went back in to take out the hip plates. This past year her surgeries include massive, multiple kidney stones. Colbie was flown to Kansas City septic from an obstructed kidney stone. Two kidney surgeries were done to remove more stones. She uses a G Tube feeding tube to help keep her nourished. Colbie went through an 8-hour spinal fusion from 2nd vertebrae to her pelvis. Her hips were dislocated which caused another 5-hour surgery on both hips including lengthening of both hamstrings and tibialis anterior.

All this sweet girl wants is a Golden Doodle service companion. Colbie's parents are amazing and give their love and support to their daughter. Please help Colbie's parents make her dream come true.
