Help CJ get medically transported back to California.

Life has not been the same for CJ’s family. As one could imagine, they are overwhelmed with the many stresses mounting up. Worrying about CJ’s health, being away from their other son Evan, missing work, out-of-town expenses and numerous bills accumulating back home. Their main focus now is exploring ways of getting CJ back to California. He will require medical transport and his parents are trying to gather funds for an air ambulance to a NICU hospital in Modesto, CA. They are anxious to get their family back to living under one roof again, and for CJ to finally have the chance to meet his big brother!

Our story:

My nephew, Cohen Jaman “CJ” Lawless is our little Jamaican miracle baby. This impatient little guy was born 10 weeks early, to my sister Lauren and brother-in-law Marc, at a hospital in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Due to the lack of resources in the Jamaican hospital, and after a very troublesome first 36 hours of life, they had to make the difficult decision to EMERGENCY air ambulance him to a level III neonatal hospital in the United States. The Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has been CJ’s home for the past 2 months.

Once CJ and his dad arrived in Florida (Mom was not medically cleared to fly) he was assessed and diagnosed. It turned out CJ was a very sick baby and clinging to life. He had several challenges that included severe lung trauma and a large infiltrate on his left leg. The doctors and nurses went to work saving his life using all of the exceptional resources we are fortunate to have at a Hospital such as Broward Health. After weeks on different ventilators, countless treatments, and TLC he is finally on the right track.

CJ has a long road to recovery and will likely be in the NICU until early May. His Mom and Dad rented an apartment near the hospital so they can spend their time talking, reading, and giving him love. They are finally able to hold him, feed him, change him and even style his hair! He has been an absolute trooper and is very clearly a strong boy, ready for a full, and likely adventurous life!

Marc and Lauren appreciate your love, prayers, and any support you can offer.
