Help Coby volunteer in Borneo with Camp International!

Hi, my name is Coby Power. I am 14 years old (16 at the time of the trip in 2027), I live in ilfracombe and a student of Ilfracombe Academy.

In the summer of 2027, I hope to travel to Borneo, for a 4 week community and conservational expedition. Here we will be helping rural communities with very limited access to facilities with things like building schools, classrooms, clean water systems and developing lasting relationships with the local families.

Borneo currently has a massive problem with deforestation and because it has an incredibly rare and unique eco-system, naturally this is being destroyed. Therefore, we will also be spending time planting trees and assisting at wildlife centres.

Whilst I am sure I will have the time of my life, it will be extremely hard work but very rewarding. Not only will I learn valuable life skills and lessons from being in a different culture, but in the build up I will learn new skills like management, event planning, bookkeeping whilst I try and fundraise the cost of my trip. I hope that whatever I learn along the way, I can bring back these skills and directly impact my local community here in ilfracombe as well.

I am at the start of my fundraising journey right now, but in due course I will be running lots of events, and using my love of sport to participate in difficult challenges, both physically and mentally, all of which I will post on here to show my progress and participation.

It would be amazing if you could contribute, no matter how small, towards my goal, and if you do I promise it will be really appreciated by both myself and the communities of Borneo in which we will be helping.

Any additional funds, above my target goal will be donated to other students also hoping to go to Borneo who haven’t quite raised enough. The more students who go, the bigger impact we will have.
