Coach Danny has been a pillar of strength, resilience, and positivity for everyone who knows him. A lifelong teacher, Danny began his career at LAUSD and later at St. Paul eventually bringing his passion for volleyball to the Sunshine Volleyball Club in 2019. For decades, he’s shaped not just athletes but also strong, confident individuals.
In 2016, Danny made a life-changing decision. He invested his entire savings into purchasing a mobile home and made a home in the Pacific Palisades Mobile Home Park, lovingly known as Pali Bowl. Over the past eight years, he created a beautiful community there, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and life’s milestones with neighbors who became family.
Tragically, on the night of the recent fires, Danny watched from a parking lot on Pacific Coast Highway as his home burned to the ground. With nowhere to go, he spent that night in his car, trying to process the devastating loss. The next day, he walked back to the site via a bike path and sifted through the rubble, managing to recover only a few coins and picture frames that miraculously survived.
Despite this unimaginable tragedy, just two days after the fire, Danny showed his unwavering dedication to his team. He sent an email to the Sunshine Volleyball Club, offering to continue practice. With a smile on his face and encouraging words, he held practice as usual, later that week he showed up for the girls at their first tournament of 2025.
Danny is in his 60s, unmarried, and without children. He has always given so much of himself to his students, his players, and his community. Now, it’s our turn to give back.
The funds raised will go toward helping Danny rebuild his life—finding a new place to live and replacing the essential belongings he lost.
Let’s come together as a community to show Coach Danny the same love, support, and resilience he has always shown us. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in his journey to rebuild.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Please share this page to help spread the word.
