My name is Abby. Most of you know me and this fundraiser is near and dear to my heart. You can help by donating or re-posting this so we can get the word out there and hopefully reach our goal. This is for my nephew in the Philippines. He needs a few surgeries in order to help with some health issues stemming from being born with a deformity. Please read his story below for more details. "Hi, my name is Clyde. I’m 8 years old and I’m from the Philippines. I was born with a Bilateral Cleft Lip and Palate. I had an Anal Repair when I was just 3 days old. I was given a NAM at 5 days old. Nasoalveolar molding (NAM) is a nonsurgical way to reshape the gums, lip and nostrils with a plastic plate before cleft lip and palate surgery. We drove 6 hours back and forth at the Orthodontic Clinic for 6 months for my weekly check up and NAM adjustments. I had my Cleft Palate Repair at 6 months old and Cleft Lip Repair at 8 months old.

We are now preparing for my next surgery which will be Bone Grafting. It is a surgical procedure that uses transplanted bone from my hip to repair and rebuild the damaged bones to my gums. As one of the preparations for bone grafting surgery, the surgeon will have to monitor my progress with the ortho. I will need a Palatal Expander as well to help grow and shape my palate and gums.
