Help Clyde Lee Rebuild His Life After Accident

Donation protected
Calling on Clyde's friends, family, colleagues and fellow sports enthusiasts!

Many of you may already be aware that Clyde Lee was the victim of an unfortunate accident. While doing what he enjoys most, exercising, Clyde was struck by a car on Pitts Bay Road on Sunday, July 21st, 2024. Clyde sustained a serious head injury, a broken neck and a spinal cord injury. This event has been life changing and devastating. Clyde was airlifted to Boston for emergency surgery, where he has remained in the ICU for more than six weeks with no end date in sight at this time.

The next stage of recovery, once Clyde is transfered out of the ICU, will be a very lengthy stay, possibly eighteen months, in a rehabilitation facility here in the US. Therapists will work with Clyde to regain mobility below his neck. Members of Clyde's immediate family have rotated since the accident to be with him in Boston. While insurance will cover the expenses of Clyde's next of kin who travelled with him initially in the air ambulance, the insurance will not cover the costs of those of us who have traveled to Boston in rotation, and will continue to, so that he will not be alone during this traumatic process.

A bit about Clyde: A widower, Clyde was a devoted husband, a hands on father, grandfather, brother and friend. Previously, a longtime employee/cargo manager at the Bermuda International airport. Clyde has been a valued employee of Security Associates for over last 12 years, mostly posted at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

For more than 40 years Clyde has been a sports enthusiast, running, cycling and walking six days a week on Bermuda's railway trails and main roads. He has been a regular participant in the annual Bermuda Day Half-Marathon Darby, the annual Race Week, and has walked in the End To End and whatever other annual races take place in Bermuda. Clyde has also run and completed the London Marathon and the New York Marathon.

Clyde's consistancy, commitment and support has meant a lot to so many over the years. Since the accident, the many prayers, inquiries of concern from members of the community, his colleagues, neighbours, family, friends and even total strangers in Bermuda and abroad has been touching.

Many have asked how they can assist and want to help and a gofundme page was suggested, this will help us to help Clyde. Clyde's sister, Caral Wilson (Lee) will meticulously manage the funds from this gofundme page in order to benifit Clyde ultimately on the long road ahead by helping to cover round trip airfares to Boston from our various locations, lodging, transportation, food and other incidentals so there is a steady flow of persons in the US with Clyde as he recovers. Thus far this has been extremely expensive and we will be able to continue with your much appreciated assistance.
