Help Clint Adams After His Devastating Accident

Friends and family,

I write with the heaviest of hearts about the devastating misfortune of our dear friend Clint Adams.

Earlier this month Clint fell from a ladder and broke his neck, immediately losing all bodily sensation and mobility. He was immediately airlifted to UC Davis where he has since undergone 2 surgeries to try and repair some of the damage done to his spinal cord, unfortunately the prognosis is currently not looking very optimistic. The surgery gave him some limited sensation back into his right forearm and shoulders, but the doctors are saying the likelihood of any further progression is very low.

It feels impossible to be writing out these words. Clint is currently intubated and sedated to keep him comfortable, the damage has affected his breathing so he will likely continue to need assistance. He has moments of lucidity where we are trying to work on ways to help him communicate, in true Clint style he is currently worrying more about others before himself.

If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Clint then you’d know what a true and earnest person he is. He’s a veteran, he’s a great musician, a writer, an artist, a plant whisperer, cat mom, animal man, a damn hard worker. He’s known up and down our street by neighbors he regularly helps on their properties, he is always busy helping somebody.

He’s dependable and endlessly kind, he has looked after everyone’s pup when they’re in need and fostered and nursed many kittens. He was the best friend of my old dog Bubba Shrimp, spending hours throwing the ball for his weary, old legs. I’ve cried on his shoulder and laughed with him endlessly, he listens without judgement, he is a good human being. He bends over backwards to help those around him, never sitting still for 2 minutes and often putting others needs before his own. Clint is truly a selfless individual who couldn’t be less deserving of such a horrendous accident. It is our turn to support him.

Currently we’re trying to assist Clints family so they can support him, with many of his folks out of state. Times are tough and the best thing we can do right now is make it easy for them to be here without hurting themselves financially. Clint has been a provider for his mother and brother, I know it would bring him great comfort to know they are taken care of during this already incredibly difficult time. With simple things like $20/day parking at the hospital and the gas to and from the hospital. As a very basic foundation, to even beginning to consider what types of long-term care he will need.

Moving forward it is unclear what is in store. Clints future lies in the balance and what we do know is the looming medical bills are on the horizon, we are currently unsure what will be covered by the VA but the medical system isn’t known for being easy to navigate or fair. Clint will be having a Tracheostomy in the next few days to relieve him from the discomfort of the breathing tube and hopefully one step closer to being able to communicate. He will continue being very closely monitored in the ICU for the foreseeable future.

It would mean the world if you could donate to Clints cause, whether you know him or not I can vouch that NOBODY should have to be faced with the options he has before him, it is truly a nightmare. I think it would be the greatest gift we could give him to support his family who he cares for so immensely. Please be generous, keep him in your thoughts, pray if that’s your thing, light a candle. Please share in your networks.

To see such a healthy, fit and active man so immobilized is just devastating. Please help us make such a tragedy a little easier. Lots of love,

Friends and family of Clint Adams
