Help Clay Neighbors Rebuild After Tornado
Donation protected
My name is Brooke Estes and I’m with Estes Farms located in Ruston, LA. Our community in Clay (unincorporated) received a direct hit from an EF-1 tornado the day after Christmas.
Our property endured damage, but this outreach effort is not for us. It is more specifically for repair costs on the mobile homes located near us, whose occupants can’t afford to make the repairs needed. Our neighbor, who is the landlord to most of these homes, is doing the best she can, but is on a fixed income and can’t afford to make the repairs needed. We have decided to help our neighbors, but need monetary assistance as the damage was to multiple homes, whose occupants and landlord just can’t afford to make the needed repairs.
One home, whose occupant is a young man just getting started in life, had major damage to his roof directly over his master bedroom. Another home had its roof completely lifted upwards and then was sat back down. This home, repaired correctly, will need to be taken back to its top plate as the full roof has been detached. This home occupies two young brothers, who are also just getting their feet under them and can’t afford such a repair. Another home houses a single mom and her teen boy. This home had significant damage to the roof, leaving the living room with a wide hole in its roof. Three carports were also picked up by the storm and completely destroyed.
The focus of this outreach effort is solely for repair costs so the tenants and landlord won’t have to worry about further damage due to rain getting in.
