This year, the US Mint made the historic move to stop producing cents, marking the end of an era for American coinage. To commemorate this, they created a limited series of 232 'Omega Pennies'—the last Lincoln cents ever struck, each with a unique omega (Ω) privy mark on the design. However, instead of making these coins available to the general public, the Mint announced that all sets would be auctioned off through Stacks Bowers, a decision which ensures only wealthy collectors will have access to these rare pieces of history.
That's why I'm launching this fundraiser. To give everyday people a chance to own a piece of history. With your support, I hope to raise enough funds to bid on one or more Omega Penny sets at auction. If successful, my plan is to distribute these coins in the most egalitarian way possible: by placing them into regular circulation.
I’ll hide the Omega (Ω) strikes in rolls of pennies and deposit them at banks, or use them for everyday purchases, seeding them into the wild so that anyone, anywhere, could stumble upon one.
Please join me in this modern-day Robin Hood mission. Together, we can reclaim these coins for the people and ensure that some of the last pennies ever made truly circulate as God and Nature intended. Every contribution helps, and with your support, we can make history accessible to all! #CirculateTheCents
Funding Goals
- Some have speculated that sets could go for millions
- Mid-series sets will likely sell for less
- We're targeting $50,000 to be able to bid on at least one set
- Every cent counts. If we raise more, we can bid on and circulate more sets!
- If we are unsuccessful, donations will be refunded
