Hi friends, family, and community,
My name is Ciara. I’m 33 years old, a dancer, teacher, mom to Finnlay (13) and Calloway (1), and wife to my husband, Walker.
Over the past few weeks, our lives have changed in ways we never could have prepared for.
During a performance, I suffered a catastrophic knee injury that resulted in multiple complete ligament tears, a fracture, and extensive damage throughout my knee. I am now facing multiple surgeries and at least a year-long recovery.
Right now, I am unable to walk normally, work, or care for my home and children the way I always have.
The Reality We’re Facing
One of the hardest parts of this season has been what it’s doing to our day-to-day life at home.
Because I’m unable to be up and managing things, our household has quickly become overwhelming. What used to feel manageable now feels like it’s slipping out of our hands.
Hiring full-time help simply isn’t financially realistic for us, and while Walker is doing everything he can, there’s only so much one person can carry while also working and supporting our family.
We’ve had to face a difficult truth:
Right now, we need less space, not more.
We need a simpler, more manageable way to live while I recover.
Letting Go of My Studio
At the same time, I am also having to step away from my dance studio.
This has been one of the most heartbreaking parts of this journey.
That space wasn’t just a workplace—it was home. It was a second family, a place filled with passion, growth, and community.
But the reality is, I cannot physically show up the way my students and staff deserve right now.
And financially, it cannot sustain itself while I am unable to give it my full energy and presence.
So alongside everything else, we are preparing to fully move out of the studio—sprung floors, mirrors, costumes, and all—by the end of the summer.
It is both emotionally and physically overwhelming.
Why We’re Choosing RV Living
Because of all of this, we’ve made a decision that we never expected to make:
We are transitioning into RV living as a way to stabilize our lives during this season.
This decision is rooted in necessity:
* Reducing financial strain
* Simplifying our living situation
* Creating a space that is manageable during recovery
* Allowing our family to stay together and supported
This is not a vacation or an escape—it’s a way for us to survive and rebuild.
What We Need to Make This Possible
The RV we’ve purchased needs significant work to become a safe home for our family:
* Beds and functional space for our children
* Storage solutions for full-time living
* Accessibility modifications so I can safely enter and move around
* Electrical and structural repairs
How Your Support Helps
We are asking for help during this incredibly difficult transition.
Your support will go toward:
* Medical expenses and surgeries
* Physical therapy and recovery
* Childcare while I am immobile
* Moving and closing down the studio
* Renovating and preparing our RV home
* Basic living costs during loss of income
From Our Family
This is one of the hardest seasons we’ve ever walked through.
We are grieving, adjusting, and doing our best to make responsible decisions for our family’s future.
If you’re able to donate, share, or support us in any way, it would truly mean more than we can express.
Thank you for being part of our community and helping us take the next step forward.
With love,
Ciara, Walker, Finnlay & Calloway
