Help Christopher Get a Life-Saving Heart Transplant

My brother, Christopher Mercado, is 38 years old and has been battling a congenital heart condition named Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy his entire life. Now, he urgently needs a heart transplant to survive. His heart is failing, and we're reaching out for your help to give him a second chance at life.

Imagine living your entire life with a weakened heart. That's Chris’s reality. Despite his challenges, he's always been a down to earth, compassionate, and loving son and brother. He is also a devoted cat dad to Leo and Elli whom he loves very much as well as a true friend, always offering support and a helping hand when needed.

In recent months, his condition has dramatically worsened. What was once manageable is now a daily struggle. He experiences shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, and excessive fluid buildup along with other symptoms that make simple everyday tasks almost impossible to do.

Adding to his medical crisis, Chris faced a devastating double blow last year. He was involved in a car accident where his car was totaled, leaving him without transportation. Shortly after, he lost his job. This has created a financial burden that's impossible to bear alone.

The heart transplant center is located in Philadelphia, which is quite far from our home. My mother, his primary caretaker, will need to travel and stay in Philadelphia during the transplant and recovery process. This adds significant travel and lodging expenses to an already overwhelming situation. The costs of a heart transplant, including surgery, post-operative care, and ongoing medication, are astronomical. Without income or insurance, he faces an impossible situation. We are raising funds to cover Chris's heart transplant, medical expenses, and living costs during his recovery, as well as helping our mother with transportation and lodging needs during his recovery.
