Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and learn more about our journey into creating a family. Please read on with an open heart and mind. This is not an easy task for us. Many times scenarios like ours are kept behind closed doors, with little broadcasting but this is a personal journey that we have decided is time to share. It is time for us to put down our pride for something so worth it.
We are 1 in 6. In Canada, 1 in 6 couples will experience infertility.
I think since I was very little I've dreamt of starting a family and being a mom. It's all I've ever wanted to do with my life. Once we got married 5 years ago, we spent a year of just learning what love is and what being married meant. We enjoyed our time together with vacations and just us time. On our first anniversary we decided we wanted to start a family. What a journey that has been. As anyone who is trying to conceive will tell you, it is emotionally draining.
After 3 years of trying naturally, we decided to meet with our family doctor. He referred us to a fertility clinic called One Fertility. There we began the testing to see what was going on and finding the best treatment routes for us. We were told we could try IUI. We were open to trying it. The odds of conceiving with IUI were slightly lower but it was a less invasive procedure. So, we tried IUI once naturally and had to cancel the cycle. I was told sometimes I ovulate and sometimes I don't. There are so many ups and downs and times of false hope. After finding out this news, I started on a med that would guarantee I ovulate for any planned procedures. I responded well to the meds and everything went according to plan, however after 4 IUI's we still were unsuccessful. It came time to discuss with our doctor what our next option was.
Our next step is IVF. Our doctor feels very confident in the IVF procedure and gives us a high chance of success. We are feeling comfortable with proceeding with IVF, however, realize after all of our IUI's/testing last year, we don't have the financial means to proceed. IVF is beyond what we can afford. This is why we are opening up to you. They say it takes a village to raise a family but in our case, it is taking a village to make one. We strongly believe every penny is worth it, we need your support financially and in prayers. God is continuing to fill us with hope.
Thank you so much for coming along side our journey with us. If you have any questions about the financial breakdown, the procedure itself or anything please email us at [email redacted].
Thank you!!
Sincerely,
Christine and Derek
