On August 26, Christina Swanson Reynolds and her four children—Max (13), Griffin (11), Vera (9), and Birdie (5)—experienced a devastating house fire. Thankfully, everyone escaped safely, including their cats. Christina is incredibly grateful to God and to the firefighters who worked so hard to contain the fire. The garage and everything inside it were destroyed, including the vehicle of Troy, a friend Christina had welcomed into her home while he worked to get back on his feet. Although the fire was largely contained to the garage, the extent of the smoke and other damage to the house is still being assessed. For now, their home is uninhabitable. The children are staying with their dad, Christina is living in a hotel, and Troy has temporary accommodations as well. Insurance coverage, repairs, and when the family can return home are still uncertain.
We have known Christina and her children through church for several years, and they are truly a special family. Christina is a recently divorced mom who tirelessly puts her four children first. She has always been the person willing to open her home and help others—even when life is difficult for her own family. Now, we’d like to surround them with that same love and generosity. Donations will help with temporary housing, meals, transportation, replacing necessities, and unexpected expenses while the family navigates the weeks ahead. As the damage and insurance process become clearer, funds may also help with necessary repairs. If you are able to contribute any amount, thank you. If you are not able to do so, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Christina, Max, Griffin, Vera, Birdie, and Troy in your prayers means just as much. Our hope is to help this wonderful family through this difficult time and, ultimately, get them safely home again.
