My name is Christina, and I am reaching out for help during the hardest time of my life. In just a few months, I have lost my last cousin, my baby sister, my first father-in-law, a beloved pet, and most recently, my boyfriend of 14 years. The grief and heartbreak have been overwhelming, and on top of that, I am struggling to find work because employers don’t want to hire someone who is 63 years old. I’ve been in the hospital twice recently without insurance, and I am facing medical bills I can’t afford. My Social Security is barely enough to cover basic needs, and now I am being kicked out of my apartment with nowhere else to go. The fear of becoming homeless is terrifying, especially after always trying to help others and being responsible throughout my life.

I am asking for support to help me stay in my apartment for at least a couple more weeks while I search for a safe place to live. The funds will go toward rent, medical bills, and utilities, so I don’t lose everything. I’ve never been through anything like this before, and it breaks my heart to ask for help. I am also hoping to find a two-bedroom place so my oldest son, who has disabilities, can move back in with me. He doesn’t like the group home he’s in, and I want to give him a safe and comfortable space. Because my husband passed away, I receive survivors benefits, which is why I am looking for low income housing. Thank you so very much for being there and for any support you can offer.
