Help Christian and Daughter Find Safe Housing

Hello, my name is Christian. Being the best mother I can be is my number one goal. That is why I am creating this GoFundMe account. It has been a really tough year for my family and me since my partner fell and broke their ankle a year ago. Due to the break, it caused a huge loss of income. We realized we needed to downsize and get back on track financially for our future. So that's what we did. What we did not know is the hardships we would face along the way.

Not many people know this, but my family and I have been living in hotels for the past 8 months. During this time, our car broke down. So we went from being able to save money to living paycheck to paycheck due to the price of Lyft rides to work, home, daycare, and school every day. I work and I'm a hardworking woman, but beyond that, I feel like I am failing my family. As a mother, keeping my child safe is something I should be able to do. Yet, here I am, not feeling safe where we currently live.

My daughter is 8 years old and in the past 6 months, she has seen and went through things no child should. The first extended stay hotel we stayed at, we left because we got home one day and walked into our room where we found a man with a knife. This man was later arrested but just because he was gone did not bring our safety back. We then left and went to another hotel where within the first week my daughter saw someone's lifeless body dead on the sidewalk. And today is the straw that has broken this mama's back. I got off work and picked her up from daycare. As we were walking to our room before I got the door open, I heard gunshots and bullets pinging off of cars just one floor below us. We both hit the floor where we stayed for several minutes until we heard sirens. We might have got up off the floor but I don't think my heart did.

I work so hard to try to be a good mother and give my daughter the best I can. And it is absolutely breaking my heart that I cannot give my daughter safety during this time. The silver lining is I have a co-worker that just reached out to me and is open to us subletting her apartment. It is in a very safe gated community and the price is actually cheaper than what we pay at this hotel that we are in. The only thing is we don't have much time to sublease it before she has to give the opportunity to someone else. Unfortunately, living in a hotel paying what we pay, there is no room to save. This is why I'm reaching out to the community. As I said before, we can afford the bills once we move. However, we need help with moving expenses and getting the power turned on.

I would never ever get on social media in this way and ask for help if we really truly didn't need it. I'm scared to death that something is going to happen to my child living where we live. If anyone could find it in their heart to help, even if it's with $5, we would be so grateful. I am ready for my daughter to be able to go outside and play again and for us not to be stuck behind four walls day in and day out unless we are at work or she is at daycare or school.
