My five-year-old grandson, Chris, has a smile that cracks his face in half and lights up this world. I call him my little jack o’lantern. Several weeks ago he broke his leg, routine tissue samples showed that he had osteosarcoma. Bone cancer. A body scan will soon show if the cancer has spread, which we pray it has not. He will begin chemotherapy immediately and a second surgery will follow. Chris is still grinning.
Chris’ dad Nick (my son), is career Air Force stationed at Minot AFB in North Dakota. He, his wife Koral, and their other two children, Nicholas and Rose, are facing not only horrific news, but also a long period of medical and travel expenses.
Our family pulls together at times like this and we will do all we can. Chris is already doing his part, raising everyone’s spirits like always. Sometimes in life, as difficult and uncomfortable as it may be, we need to ask for help. I’m asking for your help, both directly with a donation and by sharing this message. I don’t have many social media friends, so you sharing this will be a tremendous help. I ask for positive thoughts and whatever prayers you can offer.
This will be a long and incredibly difficult road. This is my family's new normal. I would take this from Chris if I could, and I'm sure every one of you would do the same.
This is what I can do right now to help, and I appreciate you considering helping us too. Hug your kids, grandkids and all those people you love, and give them an extra squeeze from me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Terry
