Help Us Bring Healing to Guatemala: Support the 2025 CHOP Surgical Mission
This June, a dedicated team from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will embark on a life-changing journey to the northwest highlands of Guatemala, where access to surgical care is scarce and often out of reach. From June 1–6, 2025, we will join forces with the American College of Surgeons, Partner for Surgery, and Asociación Compañero para Cirugía (ACPC) to provide free, life-changing outpatient surgeries to children from indigenous Mayan communities.
Most of the patients we treat have lived with pain or disabling conditions for years—conditions like hernias, benign tumors, and ENT issues that are completely treatable but left unaddressed due to barriers such as poverty, geographic isolation, and language differences. Simple surgeries like these can be life changing for patients in rural communities many of whom suffer from pain from conditions like hernias that will leave them unable to work or provide for their future families if untreated.
During our mission, we expect to:
Evaluate 90 patients
Perform surgery on approximately 75 individuals
Offer hope, dignity, and healing
Your Support Saves Lives
To make this mission possible, we need to raise $35,000 to cover essential expenses including:
Hospital usage fees
Medical supplies and equipment
Medications for surgical patients
Thanks to generous donors, we’ve already raised $10,000—but we still need $25,000 to fully fund the mission. Every dollar you give goes directly to patient care.
Here’s How You Can Help:
$50 provides post-op medications for a child
$100 helps purchase sterile surgical instruments
$250 covers the cost of one life-changing surgery
$1,000 sponsors the complete care of four patients
Donate today and help us bring healing where it’s needed most.
