Hi there!
I'm Cheraé Robinson, a Bed-Stuy Resident and Global Citizen who firmly believes in the power of each of us to take action. I'm entering my Jackie Robinson Year (42!) and given the state of the world around us I want to celebrate my birthday with the same courage of my surnamesake (if that's a thing!)
My goal is to raising funds to support three causes that I believe need our immediate attention: Jamaica's recovery from Hurricane Melissa, the Crisis in Sudan, and NYC Families facing hunger as a result of the SNAP Gap. As a collective, and I am confident that we can exceed it.
Every dollar goes directly to the Sudan Solidarity Collective, Haboba's House, Well Calm Jamaica, the Brooklyn Arts Council, and City Harvest. I've vetted these efforts to ensure our dollars are well spent.
This fundraiser will culminate in a celebration in Brooklyn on Nov 16th. Some of my favorite DJ's have donated their talents in support of these causes. Major shout outs to ACTAZIF, Corey Townes, DJ Danglez, GabSoul, Foxy Neela, Nana Kwabena, and Niara Sterling for being so quick to jump in and support this.
Joy is resistance. Love is liberation. Music is medicine. Community is how we survive.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for - let’s get it poppin’.
I appreciate anything you can give.
