My name is Ben, and I’m fundraising for someone very special to my family — our friend Alex.

At just 38 years old, Alex is facing the most devastating chapter of his life. After battling cancer bravely for the past few years, he has recently been given the heartbreaking prognosis of only a few weeks left.

Alex is an incredible husband to Charlotte and a devoted dad to two beautiful little girls — Luna (7) and April (4). Everything he has done throughout his fight has been for them. Through hospital appointments, treatments, and the physical toll of cancer, his focus has always been the same: his family.

One dream kept them going during the hardest days — a family holiday. A chance to escape the hospital rooms and medical conversations. A chance to just be Charlotte, Alex, Luna and April. To make precious memories together.

Tragically, that dream holiday together is no longer possible.

Charlotte is preparing to say goodbye to her husband. Luna and April are preparing to say goodbye to their daddy — far too young to understand why.

This family means so much to us personally. Luna and my eldest daughter, Harper, have been best friends since they met at nursery almost five years ago. They have grown up side by side — playdates, birthday parties, school milestones, giggles and secrets. Watching them together, you see pure childhood joy. The thought of Luna navigating life without her dad is utterly heartbreaking.

While we cannot take away the pain this family is facing, we can come together to do something meaningful in Alex’s honour.

The money raised will give Charlotte, Luna and April the opportunity to take a well-deserved holiday of their choice when they feel ready. A chance for the three of them to step away from the heartache, to spend uninterrupted time together, to begin healing, and to create new memories while carrying Alex in their hearts.

Alex wanted to give them that holiday himself. Since he can’t, we want to make sure it still happens.

To do this, I will be running the Brighton Marathon on 12th April 2026 — and I won’t be stopping there. I will then run another marathon every weekend for the four weeks that follow.

Five marathons in five weeks.

There will be tough miles. There will be sore legs. There will be moments I’ll want to stop. But none of that compares to what Alex has endured, or what Charlotte, Luna and April are about to face. Every mile will be for Alex. For Charlotte. For Luna. For April.
