Help Charles Camplin Rebuild After Flood
Donation protected
I would never and have never asked for help for myself, however I now have a family member who is devastated by his loss from the floods on May 8, 2024.
He is my father, Charles Camplin, who, last year, moved down here to Tennessee to be closer to his kids and grandkids. He found the perfect little house on 2 acres in Cottontown on the very edge of White House. To be specific on the Red River (creek) across from the White House Greenway. Due to it being in a designated flood zone he did have flood insurance but they do not cover anything that isn't part of, or attached to, the home and even then there are many stipulations as to the value of what they do cover. Meanwhile he is basically displaced for the several months it will take to remediate the home from the 2 feet of dirty river water that stormed through the house and property, and that is not covered.
That being said, home owners insurance covers nothing and the flood insurance doesn't cover the chain link fence or the wood fencing that was plowed down by the raging waters, along with his new grill and patio furniture that, sailed on down the river. He had just proudly put in a garden and mulched around the yard, which is also gone, in addition to the difference in value for all the contents of his home, from insurance. Family and friends are doing all we can to help but I would love for him to have the help we can't give him, and what the insurance won't cover. If you can offer any assistance toward his property being repaired it will be more than appreciated.
Back story: He is from Chicago and lived in a 3rd floor condo when he developed a blood clot in his leg and ended up in the hospital. A 3rd floor climb was not coherent to the healing process hence he saw it as a sign to move and spend the rest of his retirement years in beautiful Tennessee and closer to his daughters and grandsons. Then came the flood...
