Help Charlene and Don Rebuild Their Lives

Donation protected
On April 1, 2026, Charlene and Don Neuterman experienced an unimaginable loss when a fire destroyed their home. While we are incredibly grateful that everyone made it out safely, the fire claimed everything they owned—their home, their belongings, and a lifetime of memories. This devastating loss also extends to Charlene’s mother, Nancy, and their youngest son, David, who lived in the home and lost everything as well.

Charlene and Don are long-time residents of Port St. John who have poured their hearts into both their professions and their community. They are known for their strong work ethic, dedication, and willingness to always show up for others—whether through their careers, volunteer efforts, or through the many friendships they have built over the years.

Their commitment to Scouting America has made a lasting impact on countless young people over the years. Through leadership, mentorship, and service, they have helped shape the lives of many, instilling values of integrity, responsibility, and resilience.

If you’re local to Port St. John, you likely know their home as “the Halloween House.” Every year, Charlene and Don go all out—transforming their yard into a festive, unforgettable display for the entire community to enjoy. It isn't just decoration; it is a labor of love that brings joy to families, neighbors, and children year after year.

Now, they need our help.

In the wake of this devastating loss, Charlene and Don—and their family—are starting over from nothing. Funds raised will go toward immediate needs such as clothing, toiletries, and temporary housing, as well as helping them begin the long journey of rebuilding their home and their lives.

If you are able to give, any amount—big or small—will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help spread the word.

Let’s come together as a community to support a family who has given so much to others. It’s our turn to give back to them.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
