My name is Chante, and I'm a full-time working solo mom of two awesome kids, Milo and Daphne. This is a last-ditch effort to help prevent me from losing my house to foreclosure.
As people close to me know, I was the victim of a domestic violence assault by my now ex-husband, which occurred in front of my 9-year-old daughter and within earshot of my 15-year-old son in our home back in October 2025.
Prior to this, my spouse had been unemployed for much of the year, and for significant periods in the years before. He found a job at the end of the summer, but it was short-lived. We were working with the mortgage company on a program to help us keep the house while he looked for stable employment, but when they learned he had found a job, we had to restart the application process. At that point, he was in jail for the assault and had lost his job.
The legal process resulted in protective orders to keep me and my kids safe, and I filed for divorce.
Now, I'm on my own to manage all the finances. While I can cover most expenses, I can't manage the house payment alone, and the threat of foreclosure has become very real over the past few months.
My kids and I don't have anyone with room to spare for us, and this situation is incredibly stressful and scary, especially as we deal with the trauma of what happened and its impact on my children. I want to be a consistent, safe, and stable presence for my kids, but I can't do that if we don't have stable housing.
This experience has shown me that I can't always handle everything on my own, and I need to lean on my community for help. Your support will help us secure stable housing and bring some predictability to our lives as we navigate this life-changing situation.
Thank you for your love and support, it means everything.
