I have been living in the United States since 2017, coming here with my mom and family in search of a better life. We worked hard to follow every step required to obtain our legal papers, always with the hope of one day becoming US citizens. Sadly, in October 2024, my mom passed away from cancer at just 58 years old. Her loss was devastating, and just a month later, I discovered I was pregnant. Despite the challenges, my husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Zachary, into the world.
After spending the required five years with my permanent residency, I am finally eligible to apply for US citizenship. This is a dream my mom and I shared, and I know she would be so proud of me for reaching this milestone. However, my husband and I are now living in a different state from the rest of our family, and we are struggling to afford the application fee on our own.
Becoming a US citizen will give me and my family more security and open up new opportunities for my future career. I am determined to honor my mom’s memory by taking this important step. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us as we work toward building a brighter future for our family. Thank you so much for considering helping us on this journey.
