Help Chai & Louie Get the Medical Care Their Baby Xena Urgently Needs

Our dear friend and teammate, Chai, and her husband Louie, are going through every parent’s worst fear.

Two weeks ago, their sweet 1-year-old daughter Xena developed a high fever that wouldn’t go down. They rushed her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with pneumonia. After several days of treatment, she seemed stable enough to go home — but the very next day, her fever spiked again.

When they returned to the hospital, the doctors determined she needed to be transferred to a different facility for further evaluation. Their insurance had already been maxed out during the first hospitalization, and since then they’ve had to pay every bill entirely out-of-pocket.

Now the doctors need to run additional tests and bring in infectious disease specialists, but the hospital requires payment up front before they can continue. After everything they’ve already paid, Chai and Louie are down to their last ₱13,000 (about $250) — not nearly enough to cover the next steps in Xena’s care.

This is an incredibly humble and hardworking family. Xena is their world — a bright, happy little girl who deserves the chance to get well and come home.
