Help Chad Coffey Fight Cancer and Recover from Emergency Surgery
Dear friends, family and kind-hearted strangers, we're reaching out to ask for your support for a loving father, grandfather, and dedicated worker-Chad Coffey, a 46-year-old from Marion, Indiana. Chad is proud father of two daughters, four sons, and a grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren. His four sons alternate weeks between him and his ex-wife, and two of them are on the autism spectrum-making his role as a father even more essential. Chad has worked at Cafe Valley for the past 11 years and is a proud graduate of Mississinewa High School. He's always been hardworking, caring, and resilient.
Earlier this year, Chad was diagnosed with clear cell renal cancer in his left kidney, which had unfortunately already spread to nearby lymph nodes. On March 14, 2025, he went in for what was supposed to be a routine radical left nephrectomy. However, during surgery Chad's bowel was perforated, leading to septic shock and an emergency second surgery. He spent 18 days in the surgical ICU and has now been hospitalized for over seven weeks-a far cry from the two-day recovery that was initially expected. While hospitalized, Chad has not been able to receive the cancer treatment he urgently needs. He is currently unable to work, and the mounting medical bills, combined with the needs of his children have place a burden on the family.
We are asking for help--whether that's through a donation, a share, or sending prayers and support. Every contribution goes directly toward medical expenses, basic living needs, and helping Chad stay afloat while he fights to recover and continue his cancer treatment.
Please help us support Chad through this unimaginable time.
With deep gratitude,
Vivian Himes, Chad's Aunt
