They gave me a home when I needed one. Now they’ve lost theirs.
In 2020, while studying abroad, I met Cesar—and after graduation, he welcomed me into his home in Santiago. Despite barely speaking the same language, his family treated me like one of their own. They rearranged their small 3-bedroom apartment so I could have a room. They fed me, cared for me when I was sick, and celebrated life with me as if I were family.
Because of them, I experienced some of the most unforgettable moments of my life—from backpacking Torres del Paine to hiking Machu Picchu.
They gave me a home when I was far from mine.
Now, they have lost theirs.
A few weeks ago, a fire—started in a nearby vacant lot—ripped through their home in the middle of the night. They woke up at 4am and escaped with only their dogs and what they could carry. By sunrise, everything they had worked for was gone.
Everything.
Right now, they need our help to rebuild before winter arrives.
We are trying to raise $20,000 to rebuild the first floor of their home—so they have a safe place to live again.
This is my chance to give back to the people who gave me so much.
Please donate whatever you can today.
Every contribution—no matter the size—brings them one step closer to having a home again.
If you can’t give, sharing this would mean the world.
Let’s show Cesar’s family the same love and generosity they showed me.
