Help Cedar Access Lifesaving Cancer Treatment

Hi my name is Jocoah, I am Cedar's son. I am raising funds for my mom's fight against a fast spreading form of breast cancer.
To of our friends, family and extended community!
It’s with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency that I reach out today. My mom, Cedar, has recently been diagnosed with an invasive form of breast cancer (Stage 3C). She urgently needs access to treatment, and we need your help to make that possible. The cancer has moved into the lymph in her neck & chest, and timing is of the essence to catch it before it spreads!
I truly believe in my mom’s strength and her ability to overcome this—but she can’t do it alone. She’s a fighter, and anyone who knows her knows the resilience she’s carried through a lifetime of challenges. Out of respect for her privacy, I won’t go into details, but I must express the endless admiration for the healing work she’s done for herself and the service she has contributed for so many others. You might know her as a yoga teacher, somatic therapist or breathwork facilitator. Cedar’s passion is to empower others on their healing journey, and now she is needing help from her friends, family & extended community for this part of her journey.
Because of ongoing health challenges and a depleted immune system, her body can’t withstand the intense toll of conventional chemotherapy & radiation, which are the only therapies available in Canada. Instead, she’s choosing holistic, integrative treatment at the Hope4Cancer Centre in Cancún, Mexico — an approach that gives her the best chance to overcome this disease & heal in a way that honours her body and spirit.
Four years ago, we lost Kara, her beloved sister — a mother of two, an aunt, a loving partner, and a friend to so many — to stage 4 lung cancer. Loosing Kara was devastating and we are determined to fight for a different outcome for Cedar.
We are raising $150,000 for Cedar’s treatment for the following;
- 3 week intensive treatment in Mexico
- Travel (initial treatment & 2 follow up trips for tests & adjustments to treatment, as well as potential additional treatment)
- Crucial follow up treatment at home (including IV therapy weekly @ $300 per treatment), living costs & time away from work. This support for follow up treatment is crucial to ensure a full recovery.
Any amount you can contribute is deeply appreciated.
*Another way you can contribute is by signing up for Cedar’s workshops, Zoom classes, or joining her QiYoga in the Park on Fridays. More info is at www.devadaruyoga.com. Other than the periods of intensive treatment, Cedar plans to continue to teach & grow her counselling practice. She hopes to have even more to offer others as she regains her strength & health.
