Help Cecilia and Owen Go Home!
Donation protected
Hello! We are starting this campaign to help some people who really need some assistance.
Our friend Cecilia is a single mom who is struggling through a horrible situation. Cecilia and her son Owen (formerly Elizabeth) have been living out of their home for weeks now. Foundations and friends have been kind and gotten them temporary shelter in the form of rental cottages and gifted hotel rooms but very soon these options will run out for them. The family pets (one a therapy dog) have all been displaced and their lives have been turned upside down through no fault of their own.
Cecilia maintains a low paying job and is working through bankruptcy. She most likely will be foreclosed on and they will be forced to leave their home in a year or so. She is in the process of figuring out what will become of them in the future. She has asked the state and different agencies for any help they can provide, but these things take time.
The reason they have been unable to live in the house is because their furnace has broken. In addition to her other struggles, Cecilia had to contend with no heat or hot water. She has been asking the state for help but red tape has prevented her from securing any helpful aid, and time is running out. Friends and furnace companies have been trying to help to get her a used furnace (this is possible through other people converting to gas or other changes) but even that will cost over $4,000.
Struggling through a difficult time of your life is bad enough. Not having a place to call home makes it that much harder. They have been out of their home since before Thanksgiving and were forced to spend the holidays in this terrible way. Please consider donating whatever you can, any amount will help, so that we can get this family back into their home and start 2017 with some hope for a better future.
Thank you so much,
John and Marypat Maloney
