Cathy and Gabriel

Cathy and Gabriel came into our lives about two years ago, when my mother—a school teacher—took a special interest in Gabriel and his single mother. What began as simple wellness check-ins quickly grew into a genuine friendship. My mom also felt a deep connection to Cathy, as she herself had been a single mother when I was young and understood firsthand the challenges of raising a child alone.

Cathy’s story is one of strength and resilience in the face of hardship. Through it all, she has never stopped working hard or living for her son. Gabriel, despite the challenges he has faced, is bright, brave, and full of life. This past Mother’s Day, we treated them to dinner—he devoured two tiramisus and tried penne alla vodka for the first time. The joy on his face was unforgettable, a beautiful reminder of how deeply he loves his mother and how fiercely she lives and breathes for him.

After a long search, Cathy has finally managed to make ends meet, but stability is still uncertain. That’s why my family decided to start this GoFundMe for Cathy—we’re confident that there are others out there who will also want to help her.
