Hello all, my name is Neisha Wallace, born and raised within the community of Catherine Hall.
Last week, Hurricane Melissa devastated Jamaica, leaving behind destruction, heartbreak, and loss. Many families lost their homes, loved ones, cars, and belongings. To this day, many are still without electricity, running water, food, or clothing.
My family and I, though based in Connecticut, are doing everything we can to help. We are from Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, and we still own a home there. Every house was completely wrecked by flooding. Currently, the homes are filled with mud, furniture and appliances are destroyed, there is no electricity or water, and it's very difficult to communicate with loved ones.
We are traveling to Jamaica this Friday to begin cleaning up the property and helping neighbors whose only homes were destroyed. Our goal is to support Catherine Hall families who are struggling to rebuild from nothing.
Your donation will help us:
- Provide immediate relief: Clean drinking water, non-perishable food, clothing, and hygiene kits for displaced families.
- Rebuild and restore: Purchase tools, cleaning supplies, and materials to repair homes.
- Support the community: Rent a water truck (estimated cost: $190,000 JMD) to deliver potable water to families still without access.
So far, we’ve used our own funds to purchase food and toiletries, but we need much more to make a lasting impact. Every dollar donated will go directly toward helping families in need and restoring the homes in the community.
We will share updates, photos, and progress as relief efforts continue.
Please give what you can; no amount is too small. Together, we can help the people of Catherine Hall recover, rebuild, and find hope again!
