Help Castro Patrol Recover

Donation protected
Castro Patrol has been a part of safety in the Castro neighborhood for 18 years. Our original approach of walking safety patrols is still a key part of our work but has now expanded into educating members of the public through low-cost workshops about protecting themselves, family and friends, and the community with skills about self-defense, surviving active shooter incidents, and understanding how hate crime laws provide additional protection. Our non-paid volunteers have also been part of the fabric of safety for large events like celebrations, memorials, and protests including marches to City Hall.

These services have been jeopardized by the early 2024 collapse of SF-SAFE, which had been Castro Patrol’s fiscal sponsor since 2006. Their criminal investigation resulted in the loss of $82,000 in previously available funding. We faced the start of the year with nearly $11,000 in unpaid bills. Generous contributions through GoFundMe and a few partner organizations allowed us to repay these bills but leaves us with no working capital to continue the level of service the community expects. Castro Patrol has become a stand-alone 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that no longer relies on a third-party sponsor. Your continued donations can help bridge the gap while we seek donations from new sources. Please consider adding a donation to help us continue our important work.
