Help A Trans Parent Protect Their Rights As A Parent

When I started the divorce process, I received a lot of advice to do my best to be cordial about the dynamics between my ex-husband and me. It made sense to me that what was best for the kids was to do everything I could to rise above our differences and work to create peace and cooperation to support the kids.
Because my kids' well-being is so important to me, this has been an important goal for me over the last 6 years. I have worked diligently to try to manage conflicts and disagreements using specific communication skills and tools like co-parenting therapy and employing a therapist to advocate for the kids.
Those of you who know me know that I take pride in the level of emotional support and safety I try to create for my kids to thrive. I am sure you can understand how important it was to try to make these processes work as smoothly and peacefully as possible. I understood that working hard to cooperate with my ex was in the best interest of the kids, and I have invested a lot to try to maintain that cooperation over the years.
Unfortunately, despite all that, I have reached a point where I need to seek legal representation to navigate conflict resolution in a way that protects my rights as a parent and follows the processes laid out in our parenting contract.
While this process is now essential, it is costly beyond what I can afford. That is why I am seeking support in affording representation so that I can ensure my parental rights are protected and that I can continue to follow the processes laid out by the state to resolve conflict in a way that is in the children's best interest.
I do not ask for support lightly. I take mutual aid very seriously and know that many community members globally need support at this time. That said, given what is on the line and my financial situation, I feel like I have no other option but to seek support right now.
