Update: Hey Everyone,
I'm still in awe of my recent trip to Jamaica, where I had the honor of supporting our families and the community of Blystheston, St. James affected by Hurricane Melissa. From handing out relief bags and providing hot meals (compliments of my sister Juju) to sharing stories of hope and faith, every moment was a reminder of the power of community and resilience. I'm so grateful to have been a part of this journey and to have had the chance to make a difference. Take a look at this video to see some of the incredible moments from our trip!
Many thanks to our family friend Brian, my husband Dane, my sister Joan (Juju), my brother Barington, sister-in-law Elaine, niece Cierrah and cousins Karolda and Paula. Thank you all who provided additional donations. I also want to thank all who provided additional support. And BIG THANKS to all who provided financial support to help make this possible. OneLove
Help Our Family in Jamaica Rebuild After Hurricane Melissa
Our Story:
Hello friends and family,
My name is Carol Elliott and I am proud to be from Blytheston, St. James, Jamaica. I spent my early years there before moving to the United States, but my heart has always remained with my family and the beautiful island that raised me. Jamaica is more than where we come from, it is who we are.
I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of our family and community in Jamaica, who have been devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The storm has left behind unimaginable destruction across our hometown and surrounding parishes. Homes have been flooded or torn apart, roofs ripped away, and small businesses destroyed. Many of our loved ones are displaced, struggling to find food, clean water, and shelter. We are still waiting to hear from many family members, including my brother.
My other brother’s home was flooded and lost its roof, and our childhood home, filled with years of memories, was completely underwater. Our cousin’s small shop, which helped support her family, now stands without a roof. Roads are damaged, communication is down, and entire neighborhoods are trying to rebuild from nothing.
As a family, we are doing all we can from here in the United States, but the need is overwhelming. We are asking for your support to help provide food, clothing, building materials, and funds to rebuild homes for our loved ones and neighbors in St. James and other affected areas.
We plan to keep everyone updated with photos and progress reports, and we will share receipts and proof of how donations are used to ensure full transparency. Our goal is not only to help our family but also to assist others in our community who have been devastated by this travesty, especially the elderly who need medical care and extra support, and the young children who have been left without the comfort and security of home.
Your support goes a long way, beyond meeting basic needs, it gives our families hope. It reminds them that they are not alone and that kindness and community can bring light even in the darkest times.
From our family to yours, thank you for your love, compassion, and prayers. Together, we can help our family and community in Jamaica rebuild and rise again.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Carol Elliott (Williams) and The Elliott / Williams Family ❤️
