On August 20th, my sister, Carmen, discovered that someone had made the decision to trespass onto her property while she was not home (in the hospital from heat exhaustion) and vandalized her tools of her trade.
- All of her tires were slashed;
to her camper (her home), horse trailer, and dump trailer
- All of her saddles were cut up, and she found the words “fuck you” carved on her personal saddle. The ones she uses the most were cut the worst.
- She had an unopened bale of hay doused in diesel.
- The water spigot was left on
- Her short barrel Winchester shotgun has been stolen from inside the camper. This damage was a personal target and intentional.
The very things that she relies on to put food on her table and feed her own animals as well as clients’ have been destroyed. I am starting a GoFundMe in hopes to replace these items, secure her property, and help her get her life somewhat back to normal.
Carmen is the most talented rider I’ve known, and she has a true gift and an incredible business. She is my best friend, my sister, mentor, and the person I am closest to. My heart aches for her and her safety. I want to spread awareness about this terrible situation. It would mean the world to me if you would at least stop and share this. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to her with kind words, generous offers, or even just shared her story. It can be found on her Facebook business page, Caliber Equine LLC.
