Hi friends and family,

Our beloved friend, nanny/former nanny, neighbor, and all around wonderful human Carla Bueno was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma and is facing a double mastectomy and possible later treatments to attack this cancer.

We (Carla’s friends) are reaching out to Carla’s community to ask for help so that Carla can focus on healing and have some quality of life while doing so. The money raised would be used to cover her lost wages (she has already had to work less due to numerous doctor’s appointments and the surgery is yet to be scheduled) as well as her regular monthly bills. (e.g., rent, groceries, gas, etc.) In addition, the funds will be used to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance as well as a dog walker to ensure her handsome dog, Shadow, is walked during times when Carla might not be physically able to do so.

Carla is a person who cares deeply about the state of the world and people, social justice, and has a philosophy of direct-action care, which often manifests in solo fundraising to get others immediate financial assistance when they need it most, frequently using her personal Facebook page as a platform to educate, inform and invite others to reach in to help strengthen the community. She is also a solid, loving friend, nanny extraordinaire, and village auntie. As long as anyone has known her, she’s always doing some act of service for others.
